There are many reasons to learn English, but because it is a difficult language to learn, it is important to focus on exactly why it is you want to learn English. In this blog we will look at some reasons why English is so important. I want all of you to add your comments, writing advantages to this list. If you want to write about disadvantages, that's fine too. Also feel free to comment to the posts of your fellow students. At the end of this activity, I would like you to print the list and paste it at home at a place where you can see it. It will motivate you to keep going even when you are tired of trying to figure out which witch is which!

- English is the most commonly used language among foreign language speakers. Throughout the world, when people with different languages come together, they commonly use English to communicate.
- Knowing English will make you bilingual and more employable in every country in the world. Not only it is an important skill for employment but being bilingual is also good for your cognitive faculties.Cognition is the mental act or process by which knowledge is acquired, including perception, intuition, and reasoning, which means that if we are bilingual we have more paths to process information and respond to it.
English is the most widely spoken language in the world other than Mandarin. There are many benefits of learning English. People who are able to speak more than one language have international business opportunities as well as they can work with the general public in hospitals and law enforcement. Getting a great job will be so much easier if you can speak English. You will move to the top of the competition because many corporation want to hire those with dual language ability.

So by learning it, you will be able to communicate with more people in the planet. Most of the business fields are requiring people who speak more than one language. You will have more job opportunities, more friends and more chances to read and learn new things. Every language in the world has its own unique meanings.Also by learning English will make all your non English speeches more affective. I believe that the mentioned factors are more than enough for any person to start learning English.

Adnan, I think the figure 13 is not a correct one. I want you to do more research on this, and post the latest statistics. I'll appreciate if you also quote the site where you find the latest figure. Website of World Health Organisation is one the sites that is useful in this regard.

As in my point of view, learning the language which is mostly used all around the world is something extremely vital. English is becoming a necessity especially if you are trying to find a job. However, learning and having the ability to fluently speak English is something that shall benefit us a lot. We can communicate with other people around the globe easier and we can understand what they say. If you are thinking to travel, study, or even work in countries in Europe or the U.S.A you must know and be able to use English very well. Unlike other languages that were once important and now no longer used by a lot of people, English is becoming more and more significant. As a student who studied the American Diploma, like many of my friends in college, I am not facing a lot of problems with the subjects which are in English unlike other students. Learning English might be hard, but when you achieve it you will pass a huge hindrance in your career and in your academic educational life.

English Is one if not the most common and used languages around the world. I hope it'll be possible to become as close as possible to speak like native speakers and gain many advantages of that.Personally, find being able to speak English very useful. English is so wide spread these days that no matter where you are in the world you will find somebody who speaks it as either a first or a second language. Even if neither of you speak it well you will have a grounds for communication. It'll be easy to travel having a great skill to use which is the ability to speak and understand English. It's considered a politically "neutral" language, people in some other countries use it for business transactions and such, even if neither country uses English as their official language.

In my opinion, i disagree with one point which is that English language is hard to learn. I think that English is one of the easier languages to learn, according to my own experience and comparing to other languages such as Arabic, which is one of the hardest languages. Otherwise, i agree with all the benefits you and my fellow students mentioned. Opinions vary, but from my viewpoint The most important advantage is that learning English can facilitate learning other languages such as, French and other similar languages. Knowing other languages other than English will make the person distinctive, especially when we're living in a world where a high percentage of people are speaking or at least knowing about English. I believe that my friends had covered it all. However, I would love to add that learning a new language makes smarter. If you speak two languages then you have more access to knowledge. You would know more about the culture of that language. You would have the chance of reading books from diffrent parts of the world. English nowadays is the most spread language in the globe. So you'd benefit greatly from speaking English more than any other language.
